I tried Piotr's procedure with Alt-Sysrq-R and killing compiz.real but:

1. Alt-Sysrq-r didn't unfreeze the keyboard (on syslog my attempts were
recorded as "SysRq : Keyboard mode set to XLATE
")
2. I ssh-ed to my machine during the freeze and neither Xorg nor compiz weren't
consuming a considerable amount of CPU percentage
3. I sent a SIGKILL to all my processes (using Alt-SysRq-i) and _after that_
Xorg (which wasn't killed) took all my CPU resources

I'll attach my xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log*

** Attachment added: "xorg.conf, Xorg.0.log, Xorg.0.lo.old"
