Thanks, just wanted to report the bugs, the synaptic package manager
only lets you choose certain things, if other things are already
installed and prompts to uninstall conflicting packages, but these
errors should not happen if the logic on synaptic is working correctly
because conflicting packages should be un-installed. I noticed that when
I choose a -dbg package that I could not install a -dbgsym package
unless it was a little different somehow. I have noticed this simple
type of error message on other things and the bugs have been filed, so I
think something else very minor is going on here. Unless it involves the
logic of synaptic then I would think that would be a little trickier. I
fixed the updating stuff. by un-installing packages that caused error
messages. but maybe I will try to install them again and pay a little
closer attention.
