Hello. I am also new to linux and Ubuntu. I have the same problem with no sounds output in Ubuntu. It's a new laptopna nd teh sound definitely works (in teh Windows Boot). It has not worked in either teh Live CD, the 2.6.22.12 install or teh partial upgrade to 2.6.22.14. I have done all the obvious and everything looks ok in the Alsa mixer too.
I'm just not sure how to give you all teh techno info! The soundcard is detected as in all teh 'sound' options, i have teh option to choose between HDA Intel (also) or Realtec (i haven't got a clue why there's 2 options!!) Any advice is appreciated.
