Public bug reported:

How to reproduce:
Go to preferences->profile->general
- uncheck "use the system fixed width font" (default was 10 on my system)
- select font size 14 (Sans regular 14)

Expected:
- the terminal prompt should look the same as when I increased the font by
using "ctrl + '+'"

Actual:
- the rendering of the terminal prompt is incorrect. Characters are overlapping
(see attached screenshot). The problem gets worse when configuring bigger
fonts. When using the shortcut "ctrl + '+'", the problem doesn't happen.

Environnement: latest Terminator package on Ubuntu 16.04 (unity desktop).
terminator -v outputs version 0,98
