I've never used apt to directly install debs so I don't know whether that works, I use 'dpkg -i /path/to/debs'. You can check the kernel version you're running using 'uname -a'.
There's no problem installing older kernels, and that would be another good thing to test. Here are links for the most recent 15.10 kernel. For a amd64 (64-bit) installation: https://launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel-team/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+build/10164187/+files/linux-image-4.2.0-41-generic_4.2.0-41.48_amd64.deb https://launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel-team/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+build/10164187/+files/linux-image-extra-4.2.0-41-generic_4.2.0-41.48_amd64.deb And for a i386 (32-bit) installation: https://launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel-team/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+build/10164190/+files/linux-image-4.2.0-41-generic_4.2.0-41.48_i386.deb https://launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel-team/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+build/10164190/+files/linux-image-extra-4.2.0-41-generic_4.2.0-41.48_i386.deb You can manually select an older kernel to boot by pressing and holding left shift after the computer starts booting until you see the grub boot menu screen, then select the "Advanced ..." option and from there pick the kernel you want. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1602051 Title: 5Ghz link no longer works on 16.04 - iwlwifi To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/1602051/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
