Weird that the wifi interface is actually there, and looks like the
difference is that network-manager is able to see and try to connect
after you unplug and plug it again.

If you get to reproduce this again, mind pasting your syslog? Want to
see what network-manager is saying about your interface.

Would be nice to try restarting network-manager to see if it makes any
difference as well.
