Apologies for my delayed response - What you suggest is now easier said than done. I am now getting the following error: I cannot apt-get upgrade anymore either, and cannot start X on that machine at all anymore. Even if I delete my xorg.conf and reboot it, every attempt to create a new usable xorg.conf using the startup dialog fails. I can't simply delete my diversions file but I am not sure how to fix it.
