I hope this gets fixed before we have an LTS release.  It is pretty
embarrassing that a modern file manager cannot rename a file without
crashing.

I just replicated this with the latest xubuntu 16.04 beta 2.  This is a
release intended to flush out the bugs and see if any last problems
remain.  This is a pretty big and prominent bug which if isn't fixed in
the next week or so will be on all the CD images for xubuntu LTS for a
year or more.
