As I said, upstream is Debian. Ubuntu's packages basically come from Debian. Maybe we throw on a couple bandages, but basically, it's Debian unstable. If the package in Debian is correct, then we need to get it repackaged in Ubuntu. If the package in Debian is wrong, then Debian needs to work out packaging. Upstream is NOT, for example, the LXDE project itself, since the issue is not one of development, but one of packaging. So either the bug remains here, or it gets triaged upstream to Debian. We determine that once we determine what version actually works.
As far as the version number is concerned, git versions can change every second. I need to know the commit number.
