Public bug reported:

After updating the kernel from 3.19.0.28 to 3.19.0.31 the full disk
encryption password entry was unusable on restart.

In 3.19.0.28 password entry works
in 3.19.0.31 password entry is displayed in the top left of the screen as if it 
was entered into the non-graphical boot logs

Current work around: revert to 3.19.0.28
