Not sure this is of any use now. I did install the packages you pointed me at (sorry the previous logs were incomplete) and the current gutsy upgrades. Getting the backtrace got evolution to open and run normally (which I had not noticed, switched to Tb in the mean time...). I attach the log files, anyway, if this can be of any help.
