Right, let's stop arguing about it, "regression" was probably not the
appropriate definition for a design change but you have a point there
and I should have started arguing on wording details.
Using nemo is a valid alternative for users that need that option
indeed.
Note that we are still pondering if "open with" is an option that
benefits the majority of our users (in which case we might bring it
back), or if we agree with upstream that most users don't need it and
it's only making the software less easy to use for those and should be
left out.
