Just a preview... :)
I started testing and it looks like the problem might potentially be in the
headers package. Here's what I did.
1. disinstalled (sudo apt-get purge) kernel version v6. ONLY
linux-image-3.2.0-25-generic!
2. installed v1. Manual boot: boots fine. Automatic (i.e.: using grub menu)
boot: works fine!!!

So, I was suspecting I was using headers of v6. I disinstalled kernel v1 and
all the header packages of versions 3.2.0-25-lp1013647.
Reinstalled v1. Does not boot! The manual boot process gives a "Errore: file
non letto" (error, file not read) on command:
linux /boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-25-generic ...
This is the actual content of directory /boot:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 795624 mag 22 01:22 abi-3.2.0-24-generic
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 795681 giu 19 15:04 abi-3.2.0-25-generic

-rw------- 1 root root 4866368 giu 19 15:04 vmlinuz-3.2.0-25-generic

As you can see, the file is there! But it cannot be read, in version v1.
More to follow in the weekend, as promised.
