There are even more lines in the error_log that are relevant: E [18/Jun/2007:19:41:13 +0200] [cups-driverd] Unable to open "/usr/share/ppd/HP-DeskJet_890C-hpijs.ppd" - No such file or directory D [18/Jun/2007:19:41:13 +0200] copy_model: Running "cups-driverd cat HP-DeskJet_890C-hpijs.ppd"... E [18/Jun/2007:19:41:13 +0200] copy_model: empty PPD file!
lpadmin expects a model name after the -m switch as listed by the following command: $ lpinfo -m This can either be a static PPD, e.g.: openprinting/HP/mono_laser/HP_LaserJet_1200.ppd.gz or a dynamically generated one, e.g.: foomatic:HP-DeskJet_890C-hpijs.ppd What behavior do you expect? Symlinking is not a good idea because it creates infinites loops when listing PPDs! Another remark: you do not need to install hpijs-ppds, on a standard Feisty installation hpijs PPDs are generated dynamically from foomatic- db-hpijs. ** Changed in: cupsys (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Wishlist Assignee: (unassigned) => Pascal De Vuyst Status: Unconfirmed => Needs Info -- ppds aren't in the place where lpadmin expects them. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/120958 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
