Okay, sorry. The 12.04 builds have been incredibly buggy on the BestBuy disposable laptops.
I did manage to fix it though. So here's the process. First thing to install once in Unity is the restricted essentials otherwise the OS dumps and dies when attempting to play an MP3 instead of just failing. Once that was done the Atheros driver for the 9285 chipset was locking Unity. To fix that remove network-manager-gnome and setup wlan0 as a boot process. Works nicely, avoids all those annoying drops that plague Linux wireless with gnome network manager. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/943652 Title: [Aspire 5250, Conexant CX20588, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/943652/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
