I'm not using "Force Full screen redraws on repaint", and I disabled "Sync to Vblank" and, for good measure, pulled a 'compiz --replace'
I started up minecraft and switched desktops. Nice and slow. But less smooth ;). Would you care for a video or are the descriptions enough?
