Problem still exists here on my Dell D620, running Xubuntu 11.10. Installed the kernel from the proposed updates this morning....
Linux 3.0.0-14-generic #23-Ubuntu SMP Mon Nov 21 20:34:47 UTC 2011 Screen "switches off" after 1 min, per my settings in Power Manager. When I activate the screen, it's then dim, and I have to manually set the brightness into /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness to get it back to normal. I looked at the PPA referenced in comment #55, but am not sure which part to install. It lists 5 sets of headers and 2 kernels. Can I just pick the linux-image-3.0.0-14-generic one? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/872652 Title: screensaver backlight stuck off, system looks hung To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/872652/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
