** Description changed:

  I was updating from 6.06 to 6.10. All package downloaded successfully
  and were being installed when it failed. The report is attached below.

  Messagebox Title: Could not install
'/var/cache/apt/archives/hotkey-setup_0.1-17ubuntu3_i386.deb'
  Contents: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 1

  EDIT: The dialog said that installation would be aborted after this, but
  when I clicked OK, it continues to install the remaining packages.

+ EDIT: Again I got an abort message with the following messages. The files
from /var/log/dist-upgrade are below (Files 4, 5, 6)
+ Could not install the upgrades
+ The upgrade aborts now. Your system could be in an unusable state. A recovery
was run (dpkg --configure -a).
+ installArchives() failed
+
  Regards,
  Prashanth
