@Mike Hartman: I don't see anyone forcing you to do anything. I was merely suggesting a way to solve the problem you and others here seem to be facing. Clearly, you're not interested in selecting a suitable daemon out of the many that exist - including a modified notify-osd ppa that does exactly what you want. Instead, you insist on forcing your own oppinions down on other people's projects (which makes me wonder who the real "controlling jerk" is).
I agree to Alex Santic though that the man-page should be updated to reflect that the notifications may not appear exactly as requested by notify-send. Timeouts are just one aspect that may be affected. Other daemons may choose to not display the message at all, or delay it, or whatever. Relying on the manpage and wasting lots of time searching for the reason is unfortunate. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/390508 Title: notifyOSD ignores the expire timeout parameter -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
