Unfortunately nothing happened. I have made the upgrades and I restarted.
Immediately after seeing the BIOS screen I presses and held down the Shift key
and then GRUB was loaded as always.Although this time there was an additional
option:Previous Linux versions.
I that wasn't there before. Of course, I didn't select that. I selected the
first option which I assumed it was the one with the new kernel. After a few
seconds of loading I got the same old dark screen and again I used my light and
again I typed sudo setpci 00:02
.0 F4.B=01 (which I now know by heart). I typed uname -a in terminal like you
said this is what I got:Linux liakos-eMachines-E525 2.6.39-020639rc4-generic
#201104191410 SMP Tue Apr 19 15:45:56 UTC 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
Can this help?

(Just one question that, if you can, I would like you to answer: are there any
other people out there with the same problem as mine?)
