No problem. This should do it in synaptic: Reload Mark All Upgrades Apply
This should install all upgrades, including the packages gnome-power- manager and linux-image... and linux-headers... from the ppa you just added. After shut down and boot the hotkeys for brightness should work. If not then check with: uname -a in a terminal that you are running the kamal~mjgbacklight kernel You can select what kernel to boot into by holding the shift key while booting. (Press and hold immediately after the BIOS screen becomes visible) Depending on your luck (or rather your exact hardware) the patched kernel from Kamal will just work or do strange things with your backlight. Especially check whether it still works after suspend. Let me know how it goes and keep asking questions :-) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/773740 Title: 11.04 --DARK SCREEN--Need a lamp to see -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
