I have a problem with wireless and broadcom on this laptop. I don't know from programming so what I do is install Ubuntu 9.04 and then upgrade it, a time consuming process.
The 10.04 LTS boot up tells you to install connected to the ethernet and then go back and get the missing package, but my ethernet connection is partially damaged so that is hard to do. If you go the 9.04 route, install 9.04, then completely update 9.04, then upgrade to the next version (9.10?) then do the upgrades to that version, then upgrade to 10.04 LTS. 10.10 looks like it is more designed for the geeks who have a lot of time to fiddle around with an install. 9.04, which can still be download, has the old file on it and my ethernet card works at once. Be sure to check "keep old settings" every time that it asks or it might delete it.
