It will be a little while before I get into work this morning, but I went ahead and remotely removed banshee. Prior to doing that I ran aptitude search banshee to see if there were any packages that I hadn't installed or packages that might be different from the norm. I found what looked to be one extra one called "banshee-official-plugins". Sadly I didn't check the package information before I removed :-(
