Well patience is a virtue which I don't have :-) I went ahead and re- installed the available banshee packages. I then decided to at least try to run it remotely. I firgured if there was a serious issue I would see it long before the app was fully loaded. This time I was able to get a fully banshee ui up and display across a network connection minus dbus- connectivity. Obviously not conclusive yet, but I will check once i get into work and let you know....
