** Description changed: I've a Canon MP130 which also has a memory card reader. Whenever I turn - it on, the memory card reader is "seen" as a hard disk. However, that - isn't a big deal except that Ubuntu keeps trying to "read" and "write" - to it and since there isn't any data card slotted in, this results in - plenty of errors, during system bootup and also in syslog. Also note if - the MP130 is on during a boot up, it might result in a crash(possibly a - kernel crash). + the printer on, the memory card reader is "seen" as a hard disk. + However, that isn't a big deal except that Ubuntu keeps trying to "read" + and "write" to it and since there isn't any data card slotted in, this + results in plenty of errors, during system bootup and also in syslog. + Also note if the MP130 is on during a boot up, it might result in a + crash(possibly a kernel crash). Also note that I used to have Dapper installed and this issue occurred on it too. I'm now running Feisty Fawn, by the way. I've seen this thread and I'm not sure if it's related to my issue. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-system-tools/+bug/61367 From syslog: Apr 6 19:05:49 lucifiel kernel: [ 36.959644] scsi 2:0:0:0: Direct-Access Canon MP Memory Card 3224 PQ: 0 ANSI: 0 Apr 6 19:05:49 lucifiel kernel: [ 37.192290] sd 2:0:0:0: Attached scsi removable disk sdb Apr 6 19:05:49 lucifiel kernel: [ 37.192320] sd 2:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg1 type 0 Apr 6 19:05:49 lucifiel kernel: [ 38.496370] input: Power Button (FF) as /class/input/input4 Apr 6 19:05:49 lucifiel kernel: [ 38.514522] ACPI: Power Button (FF) [PWRF] Apr 6 19:05:49 lucifiel kernel: [ 38.562034] input: Power Button (CM) as /class/input/input5 Apr 6 19:05:49 lucifiel kernel: [ 38.579800] ACPI: Power Button (CM) [PWRB] Apr 6 19:05:49 lucifiel kernel: [ 38.656684] Using specific hotkey driver Apr 6 19:05:49 lucifiel kernel: [ 38.676529] ibm_acpi: ec object not found Apr 6 19:05:49 lucifiel kernel: [ 38.725006] No dock devices found.
