Under no circumstance should we change away from slight hinting. That would be nothing less than disastrous.
Many a flamewar was fought around hinting level in the past and after a poll of the community run by Keybuk it was changed to slight with an exception on monospace below 12px for people like mjg59, who categorically refused to accept antialias in the terminal. I find it hair raising to hear people call for showing off the TrueType instructions. Go ahead if you want to show off that we can now match Win95. TrueType hinting is very much last century tech. I have no idea how many people will find the bytecode hinting useful, but as a default it will be disliked by most. That’s obvious. Considering the majority of target devices and audience, nothing can beat FreeType autohinter at light setting with default subpixel filter. I.e., no change, please. -- FFE: Use font='Ubuntu' as default UI font in light-themes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/649616 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
