Followed instructions on https://wiki.kubuntu.org/KubuntuDistUpgrade to upgrade from Edgy to Feisty 7.04. Upgrade went well on a Mac Pro 15" within a VMWare virtual machine.
One problem- which was a pain for a newbie like me. As per the instructions, I added a line to the Adept Manager. However I added the line incorrectly and after exiting the Adept Manager, I was unable to run it again. When trying to run the Adept Manager, an error popped up telling me to run apt-setup to fix the problem. Well, try as I might I could find no apt-setup in the system. After searching the forums I found out that you could change the file /etc/apt/sources.list to remove the offending entry. It seems the Adept Manager can be broken quite easily by idiots like myself. I would hope that Adept Manager in future would be able to handle such problems. After fixing Adept Manager, upgrade went very smoothly. -- SRU: updates necessary for Kubuntu Upgrade Tool in Edgy https://launchpad.net/bugs/84717 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
