Bernd - I'm not completely following what you're doing.

You said, "Then I copied a directory (also placed in the encrypted home
directory) ...".  Were the files in source directory of the copy
operation the encrypted eCryptfs files or the decrypted files?

If you could paste in the exact cp command that you used, as well as the
output of /proc/mounts, it would clear things up for me.
