next interesting finding: last time switching on my notebook I pressed
the wifi key before booting (during the bios init phase).

this caused another output for rfkill:

$ sudo rfkill list
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no

and wifi was working! the very interesting thing is that the dell-wifi
entry is missing.
