I can confirm this issue. While running Kubuntu, when I insert a flash drive, Nautilus will be launched AND the device notification icon will display the flash drive. Clicking on the notification icon will launch dolphin. However dolphin will be unable to unmount the device, complaining that the device is not mounted by hal. Nautilus can unmount it.
There is a tread about it here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8408560 They recommend a solution which disables fuse in gvfs, which would probably cause problems if you launch the Gnome environment instead of KDE.
