Anyways, I decided to just start using root for all of this, and got this error the first time I tried to run /usr/sbin/console-kit-daemon as root: console-kit-daemon[25719]: WARNING: Failed to acquire org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit console-kit-daemon[25719]: WARNING: Could not acquire name; bailing out I then did killall /usr/sbin/console-kit-daemon and then once again ran /usr/sbin/console-kit-daemon and got no errors.
