So, key problem is not being able to detect the type of card, resolution of screen, or select the right card with the vesa driver that is actually plugged into the screen. It selects the one connected via SLI by default.
When it tries to boot the OS (either from an install or the Live CD) it will load the OS, but then fail to load the X window system at the end.
