Rich: No problem. In that case could you try:
sudo update-initramfs -u -v >update-initramfs.txt .. and post the resulting update-initramfs.txt. Could you also paste the results of this command: ls -la /usr/bin/awk && ls -la /etc/alternatives/awk The error messages "line 85: /usr/bin/awk: cannot execute binary file" in update-initramfs and update-grub both indicate /usr/bin/awk is not executable. This means the file is missing, the symbolic link is broken, the package is missing, it is not marked executable, there is a media error or I am mis-interpreting the error. In any case I will do my best to help track it down. -- dpkg: error processing linux-image-2.6.31-16-generic (--configure): https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/495061 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
