No problem.   In that case could you try:

sudo update-initramfs -u -v >update-initramfs.txt

.. and post the resulting update-initramfs.txt.

Could you also paste the results of this command:

ls -la /usr/bin/awk && ls -la /etc/alternatives/awk

The error messages "line 85: /usr/bin/awk: cannot execute binary file"
in update-initramfs and update-grub both indicate /usr/bin/awk is not
executable.   This means the file is missing, the symbolic link is
broken, the package is missing, it is not marked executable, there is a
media error or I am mis-interpreting the error.   In any case I will do
my best to help track it down.
