Dear WeatherGod: Hello, my name is Raul, you wrote me about Bug 481009. I've tried your suggestion on installing 'linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic-generic'. It didn't worked. I had before ubuntu 9.04, I had it under VMWare, with no problem at all. After updating, it changed the sound card. I thought it should keep previous drivers and programs. When i open the hardware driver, it shows none. Well, i'll try to find a solution, thanks for your help

I am not certain if this will solve your problem, but it is worth a try. For Ubuntu, try installing the 'linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic-generic' package and then reboot the vm. Note that you may have to unmute devices after the reboot as they may become muted in the process. -- change in the sound card after upgrading to ubuntu 9.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/481009 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. Status in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Hi. After upgrading from 9.04 to 9.10, i missed all the sound in my computer. I'm using ubuntu under VMWare because of my working needs. Everything was fine under 9.04, but after upgrading, the Sigmatel Audio Card driver was replaced by ES1371 audio card driver. I don't know how to change to my previous driver. If you could help me to find the problem and how to solve it, it would be great.
