I've been unable to recreate this using a Kubuntu i386 Live CD dated
20091020 with an NTFS partition. The partition is automatically mounted
and I am able to browse it just fine.
In the description of the bug report there is mention of an "error
message that is useless". What exactly is that error message?
Additionally, what filesystem is your Windows XP partition?
