@teej I think he tried with 8.04 live cd which of courseworks . @zaiboot, apport is used to collect info about the current system ,so i used it to collect info about my system which i installed from a live usb drive.
Install 9.04 from live usb using software unetbootin from windows, then you can install ubuntu.
