I hit this too. I removed existing openoffice.org-filter-binfilter to work around it instead.
The thing that really confuses me about this bug is the time at which it appears. This appears as soon as you start the upgrade, which is *after* the screen in update-manager that lists which packages will be removed/added/updated. But to compute that list, doesn't the package manager have to traverse the dependency tree?
