I don't believe that is the case, as all the nvidia debs are indeed
installed. However, I reinstalled all of the nvidia debs and the problem
persists. Furthermore

So, unless the nvidia debs are failing to overwrite any manual installation,
the problem still persists as originally stated.
I have thus reverted the status to new. Will try to install the current nightly
build later today to see if a fresh install alleviates the problem.
