Thank you for the update. There's no reason to downgrade to Ubuntu 8.10.
Also, we do not support the 64 bit flash plugin at present. My guess would be
your video drivers. Could you please post the output of:
lshw -C video
That will allow us to see what video card you have so that we can
further diagnose the problem.
