FC8 is pretty old (2007) and is probably buggy so if Fedora still
supports that version you may want to file the bug there.
The reason Ubuntu 8.10 worked probably was due to it being an older
version of OOo that worked differently for saving files. In the ppa
version I disabled saving to the network entirely since it was buggy, if
I remember correctly I changed it to use gvfs-fuse which didn't work
100% on Ubuntu 8.10 but was better than nothing.
