What I've done:
1) remove all pulse audio components:
sudo apt-get --purge remove pulseaudio* libpulse* --yes
2) add the line:
options snd-hda-intel model=dell-bios
to the file "/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf"
3) rebooted the system
4) in the gnome volume control set the Digital Input Source to "Analog inputs"
and select the first "Input Source" field to "Front Mic" and check "Digital"
and "Record" volume (ex: 100%)

I followed the above 4 steps and now have no audio output. Please advise
solution to restore audio output
