This doesn't make sense. k = 1024 and M = 1024 k." comment (and to be pedantic perhaps you should switch to SI units - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kibibyte ). In your example k = 1024 bytes and the whole powers of two units is somewhat tangential to the issue I am seeing. Imagine you have one update and you the size as 1956. You are left wondering what the units are (1956 Kbytes? 1956 Mbytes? 1956 bytes?)
