I believe the fix below does not work in all cases. I continue to get this error:
"Could not save the file /media/directory_name/pezarro/t…save_error_workaround.txt Unexpected error: Text file busy" Here are the details for the cifs mount: //filer_name/filer_folder /media/directory_name cifs credentials=/root/.smbcredentials,workgroup=MyWorkGroup,uid=1000,gid=1001,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777,rw I am running Ubuntu 8.10. If migrating to Ubuntu 9.4 was thought to remedy my trouble, I would certainly try it. I quite like gedit and it would be nice to be able to use it error free with my cifs mount. Another workaround is to use a different text editor such as Gvim. -- gedit fails to save files over smbfs/cifs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/34813 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
