hello, Thanks for the response No this doesn't address my concerns. My concerns are that it is installed in the first place by default instead of user install. As I mentioned, there is no real need for any developer to know what applications are being used or most popular. If that were a true concern then gnome-screensave, for example, would never have been used in the default install for ubuntu-gnome. My concern is again that it is installed by default, there is not need for it, on top of which is not reliable at this point anyway. But thanks for reading this.
