Adding that to the boot gives me a functioning Live CD system! This old PC has some slight memory issues which may be triggering this problem. If I run memtest86, I get about 400 errors. However, if I try to replace any of the SDRAM, I get upwards of 48,000 errors. I believe the memory controller on the motherboard is starting to go. The fix is a replacement of the motherboard (around $50-75), but why would I do that for an AMD 850 with 384Mb of memory? I'm just trying to buy a little more time. The 8.10 systems never complain of and it all seems to work. So, I guess that I'll re-upgrade this partitions, and add this to the boot of menu.lst
Is there anything else that would help you understand / resolve the issue, or is this the resolution? Doug Andy Whitcroft wrote: > It seems that this can be turned off using a kernel parameter.
