What I did today to force the gparted story and gethering informations:

As mentioned above I started using a Terminal typing "sudo gparted"

Than I started an other teminal, typing "top" and analysed what is going
on. Allway on top with 100% "blkid" has been shown together with the
process.ID, so I could type "sudo kill 8211" (or relevant shown ID).
This has to be repeated twice to kill at least each single sub-process
and then the interrogation of gpated started the next step - related to
the number of volumes it must be repeated respectively - finally the
"normal" output has been shown.

A readable logfile (without the kill order given) I do not discover.
