there is code in ldm that should restart the soundserver to free up the sound device for the second and subsequent users, apparently that doesnt work right and is a duplicate of bug #66735. the switch to pulseaudio should solve it for feisty, i'm not sure what else can be done and be backported for edgy but i'll look into it.
