I'm seeing similar problems since the 180.35 update. Particularly the defunct processes, and the inability to use Ctrl-C in yakuake. Logging in now takes a lot longer sometimes now results in a blank screen and I have to restart compiz to get everything running.
I think I'm going to see if I still have the 180.29 packages in cache and downgrade like Mark.
