This fixed something else too. My multimedia keyboard crashed X every
time I pressed a "strange" button: Back, Forward, Volume Up, Volume
Down, etc.

It used to work perfectly, but since (maybe) 2 months ago I cannot use
any multimedia button, just normal 104 Generic buttons.

After todays update, which implemented the fix, the multimedia keys
don't crash X, they are simply ignored. All except Power, which brings
up the dialog (Shut Down the Computer).
