I had a chance to experiment today with connecting directly to the monitor instead of via the Omniview switch, and it does seem to be the case that the switch is interfering with EDID detection. Attached is the captured EDID data, which parses correctly with 'parse-edid' and shows the right information; I was able to obtain it using 'sudo get-edid > sonycpde200-edid.bin' after restarting X once the monitor was directly connected. When connected via the switch, the get-edid command failed to read EDID data.
